The Four technologies are:
- Laser cutting
- Plasma cutting
- Water jet cutting
- Oxy Fuel cutting
There is a popular notion that these are competing technologies. The truth, however, is that they are not. Each technology has its own strengths, weaknesses and applicability. They will indeed overlap in certain areas of use. The final selection depends upon the material to be cut, thickness of the sheet which is to be cut, the quality of cut, the speed of the cut and finally the investment that can be made to acquire the correct technology.
CNC 2½ axis cutting is the process of cutting plain sheet with two axes running in interpolation. The third or the Z axis is not interpolated but works only for height control. |
